Florida kids with special needs rarely have the chance to enjoy the pleasure of boating, fishing from a boat, or the excitement of the intercoastal waterway. Our Marina Day Kids program is planning to change that circumstance.

Children (ages 6-16) from sponsored agencies will be treated to a very special boat ride. The program includes instruction about boating safety and teamwork, waterway history and environmental respect. Participating children are encouraged to visit our Reasource Page to help prepare for the trip.

The 2008 boat trip is limited to 80 children at each site (and 1 adult for every 4 children)

8:00 am to 9:00 am Prepare the boat trip

Boats will leave at 9:00 am on August 11th, 2007 from the Marina (get maps)

Instruction by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary about wearing a life vest and boating safety.

Participation by local powerboat associations will help the Coast Guard.

Each child boater will be given Treasure Hunt Questions about boating and the local waterway.

Fishing, deep sea diving, and fire safety demonstrations.

Information booths about clean water, clean marinas and local environmental issues.

A group of boating questions to answer during the trip. Completed lists are rewarded with a boating "goody bag" and raffle tickets at the end of the trip.

Children are encoruaged to write or draw their experiences to keep a "log" of the trip.

Clowns, jugglers and magicians will take audience participation to another level with magic, ballon art and games
